How To Use A 16x DVD DuplicatorSo you just spent the money for a new Pioneer, NEC, etc. 16x DVD duplicator. Way to go! Now you probably want to know how to put this device to work and duplicate your old DVDs. There are a lot of reasons you might want to do this. Perhaps you are backing up in case of a disaster befalling your home or in case you lose the originals. Whatever your reasons, you want a simple step by step instruction on how to use a 16x DVD duplicator and luckily for you, you have found one! Your first step is to be sure you have DVD burning software. Your 16x DVD duplicator hopefully came with some, but if it did not you may need to purchase one or download a free trial online. This guide will assume you are using Roxio as it is one of the most popular brands of DVD and CD copying software on the market. Follow the program's instructions for installation if you do not already have it installed and continue to the next step. Start the Video Copy and Convert Tool. Depending on the size of the blank DVD you are using, it may be necessary for the program to compress the original file to fit onto the smaller copy. This will negatively affect picture quality so be aware. (Note: It is recommended that you burn copies of your video DVDs onto DVD-R not DVD-RW. DVD-R stands for DVD - Recordable, while DVD-RW stands for DVD - Rewritable. Rewritable means it can be copied over and used again.) If you wish to record the entire DVD, which in this case you most likely do, then select the "DVD Video Copy" at the top of the screen and continue to the next step. Under the "Source" section, find the DVD you are recording from. This is most likely in drive D or E. Press "OK" to load the DVD folder into Video Copy and Convert. On the bottom of the window you should see a drop-down box next to where it says "Disc Size." Select the type of DVD you are recording to and then adjust the "Content Quality" next to that if you need to. If you can, it is ideal to leave the quality as identical to the original. Click "Ok" and make your way through the rest of the options. For most of them leave them as default. Be sure, however to select 16x as your write speed as you are using a 16x DVD duplicator! You can then select "Copy Now" and sit back and wait on your DVD to finish. |
